In many ways more horrific and painful to watch than the bloody and mutilated banana. Very, very profound.
This piece was very busy to me... I think I was confused, and didn't know where to focus... where the center was... and rather than absorbing the various elements, I probably dismissed it as too much work...
...upon reflection, these responses seem very shallow to me... I wonder if I'm a lazy connoisseur?
I like things that don't have focus
Hmmm... in spite of my last comments, and in light of yours, I found myself stricken with this painting yesterday at the MET in NY:

An image search of "Eugene Carriere" will produce more of his works in which he manipulates focus in the literal sense... although I get the feeling that you are talking about lack-of- focus in a broader sense...
