Artwork: Chikita Banana

by Anthony and Annie

Artists' Statement: An abstract representation of a boat made from everyday objects causes the audience to combine thoughts and memories. While the viewer is looking at something that looks like a boat they are also having memories of q-tips, marshmellows and bananas creating a new idea/thought, thus making it beautiful.

"...having memories of q-tips..."

I didn't have any distinct memories of q-tips until Nick opened up his group's bag of found objects today and promptly cleaned his left ear... ...a visual that definitely tainted my interpretation of your piece :)

maybe not conscience memories, but sub-conscience certainly...

My mom didn't believe in q-tips... if your finger couldn't get it out, it stayed... I think it was her way of protecting my eardrums from sharp objects...

exactly! sub-conscience memories of the deprivation of q-tips which then leads to the memories of all things deprived, breaking into another sub-conscience underground network. but really, it's reminding you of your mother.

i think this bannana could also represent freedom and an escape. It's obviously a boat and when i see the boat i think of getting away and leaving and since the anchor is simply a tea bag that means you are not getting held down or stopped anywhere. Good job with depicting the banna as a boat very artistic :)
